Northstar Expansion

Extended Service for the Northstar Corridor

The Northstar Corridor is an 82-mile transportation corridor that runs along Highway 10 from the St. Cloud area to downtown Minneapolis. It is one of the fastest growing corridors in Minnesota and the nation. In fact, it is projected that there will be more than 850,000 people living in the corridor by 2025.

The first phase of the Northstar Commuter Rail Line was completed in 2009 and is meeting expectations. Northstar trains currently provide service along a 40-mile route between Big Lake and downtown Minneapolis. As demand for commuter rail service grows, the Northstar Corridor Development Authority plans to extend commuter rail service between Big Lake and St. Cloud.
